Point your capture tool at velt
Do this once and every screenshot you take turns into a velt.lol link, already copied, ready to paste.
Just want to put a file up?
You do not need any of this. Open Your files and press Upload a file. Pictures, GIFs, clips and MP3s all work.
The rest of this page is for taking a screenshot and having the link copied automatically, without saving a file first.
Get ShareX
It is a free screenshot tool for Windows. Download it from getsharex.com and install it.
On a Mac or Linux, or if you would rather not install anything, skip to Not using ShareX further down.
Make a key
Open Your files. Type a name for the key — desktop is fine — and press Make key. Leave Upload files ticked.
Then press velt.sxcu to download the settings file. Do it before you leave the page.
The key is only shown once. We never store it, so we cannot show it again. If you miss it, no harm done — revoke the key and make a new one.
Open velt.sxcu
Double-click the file you just downloaded. ShareX asks if you want to add the destination — say yes. There is nothing to type.
To check it worked: Destinations → Destination settings → Custom uploaders, and velt is the one selected.
Take a screenshot
Take one however you normally do. ShareX uploads it and the link is on your clipboard — paste it anywhere. The file also shows up in Your files.
A clip takes a few seconds longer to become playable, because it gets converted first. The link works straight away either way.
The half nobody else has
A link is not just an address
Open any file from Your files and you get its own page, with two things on it that most screenshot hosts either charge for or do not offer at all.
Choose what the link ends in
Every file arrives with a generated ending — velt.lol/i/p7meggd and so on. Change it to anything made of letters, numbers, dashes and underscores, starting with a letter or a number.
One warning, and the page repeats it above the button rather than after it: renaming breaks every copy of the old link that has already been pasted anywhere, and it cannot be undone by renaming back, because somebody else may have taken the old ending in between. Pick the ending before you paste it, not after.
Choose what a channel sees
A link pasted into a channel is seen by everybody scrolling past and opened by almost nobody. The card is the product. Five fields on the same page decide it, and the preview beside them redraws as you type:
- The line above everything
- Your handle, unless you say otherwise. It is the small line above the card, and it is the only part a bare image host cannot produce at all.
- The small grey line
- Left out entirely if you leave it blank, which is usually right.
- Title
- Falls back to the filename, which is almost never what you want it to say.
- Body
- Left out entirely if blank. This is the one that was missing from most cards before anybody looked.
- The coloured spine
- The stripe down the left of the card. It is the one piece of colour you get in a grey channel, so it is worth setting.
Leave a field blank and it falls back to whatever is underneath it, which the field shows you as its placeholder. Nothing is ever invented.
The card for your page is set separately
That screen is for one file. The card for your profile — what a channel sees when somebody pastes velt.lol/<your handle> — lives at the embed settings, with the same preview drawn beside the form.
Not using ShareX
Flameshot, Linux, macOS, or any key you can bind
The same key panel offers upload.sh, which takes a file and puts the address on your clipboard through whichever of wl-copy, xclip or pbcopy exists. chmod +x it first. It is written to be read before it is run.

Our own tray app
The desktop app watches a folder instead of being a capture tool. Point it at wherever your capture tool already saves and anything that lands there goes up on its own. It also does Rich Presence, which a website cannot.
Anything else
It is an ordinary multipart POST with a bearer token. Every route is documented at the API, including the fields we answer with, so you can point anything at it.
If it does not work
- ShareX says the upload failed and shows nothing useful
- Open Destinations → Destination settings and check the entry is the one selected. If you imported twice you will have two, and the wrong one can be active.
- It worked yesterday and stopped today
- The key was probably revoked, on Your files. A revoked key cannot be brought back — make a new one and import the new file.
- Every upload is refused as too large
- There is a per-file cap and a per-account quota, and both are printed at the top of Your files rather than left for you to discover by being refused.
- The card in Discord is the old one
- Discord caches what it fetched the first time a link was seen. A link you have just changed the card for will show the old one until its cache turns over; pasting it in a channel nobody has posted it in before shows the new one immediately.
Still stuck
Tell us what you did and what happened instead. A setup that fails silently on somebody else’s machine is the hardest kind of thing for us to hear about, so it is worth the message.
